Royal Mail Recruiting Christmas Casual Workers


A Christmas jumper, festive online shopping, a letter headed to the North Pole. There are all kinds of exciting parcels and letters to look forward to this Christmas. Joining as a Christmas temporary worker at one of our mail centres, you’ll be helping to sort these items for 29 million addresses across the UK.

A mix of full and part time indoor sorting positions on early, late and night shifts will be available from early November through until 23rd December at a number of sites across the UK.

Button Cell Batteries - Warning

Inside some electronic devices are button cell batteries, that if swallowed by children or pets can get stuck in the throat and cause severe burns or even death.

Ensure that children and pets do not have access to these devices, spare batteries should be locked away and used batteries disposed of correctly.

Haven't completed your Household Enquiry Form (HEF) yet? Complete it online today. The form asks for the names of everyone living in your household who is eligible to register to vote. It is a legal requirement to respond to the form, even if it shows the correct information. You’ll find your security numbers on your HEF form.

Chatham Station Christmas Panto and Fayre - Wednesday 29th November


The Chatham Station Christmas Panto this year will be Jack and the Beanstalk.  It will be held in the gymnasium on Wednesday 29th November with one performance commencing at 6.30pm.

The Chatham Station Christmas Fayre will be held on same evening in the grounds of the gymnasium.

    Ladysden Maize Maze, Goudhurst

    New for 2017 is the maze at Lower Ladysden. In support of Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance pick a gamer card and see if you can complete the Chopper Challenge.   

    The 8 acre maze is in the shape of the Air Ambulance which is stationed only a few miles away in Marden and can often be seen flying over the maze so keep your eyes peeled!!

    As well as the maze, you can Pick Your Own fruit available as well as ready picked fruit in the farm shop.

    Once you have completed the maze (or before!) refresh yourself with a slushie, ice cream or cool drink from the farm shop and relax in the picnic area.

    During wet weather the maze be closed so please phone ahead to check.

    Medway Annual Canvass 2017 (Electoral Register)

    The Annual Canvass of all properties across Medway is currently underway in order to compile the new Register of Electors 2018 on 1 December 2017. This is a statutory requirement and a response is required  from every household in Medway.

    The canvass started on 1 July 2017, by emailing all electors (with email addresses against their registration), with the Household Enquiry information, for them to confirm or make changes to. This is a new initiative to save money and the environment by not having to print and post paper forms.

    If you did not confirm or make the changes before midnight on Sunday 16 July,  a paper Household Enquiry form will be sent in the post, which you can respond to via the web, telephone or SMS. Full instructions are given on the form.

    SSAFA Stepping Stone Homes

    SSAFAs Stepping Stone Homes based in both the North East and the South of England provide short-term supported accommodation, help and advice to female service or ex-serving personnel, the female spouses or partners of serving or ex-serving personnel, and their dependent children.

    Support is also provided to women without children or whose children may be living elsewhere temporarily, those seeking accommodation due to welfare needs, and Foreign & Commonwealth cases. The above list is not exhaustive. Each case will be considered individually.

    Our homes provide a comfortable, secure and female-only place to stay for as long as it takes the resident to get back on their feet. From our clean and well-maintained communal spaces to private areas for each resident to make their own, we make our houses like home for however long the resident is with us.

    The schemes are also registered with local authorities as refuges for those fleeing domestic abuse and, as such, their locations are not to be disclosed to the public. Referrals can be made via the email addresses below:
