Thefts from Motor Vehicles in the Medway Area

Medway residents are being urged to keep their vehicles locked and secure following recent reports of thefts.

Kent Police officers have received reports of items being stolen from vehicles which have been left unlocked by their owners, making the vehicles an easy target.

Thefts from unlocked vehicles have been reported across Medway, with no particular pattern of offending except for the victim not locking their car.

Kent Police Inspector of the Medway Community Safety Unit said: 'I urge all motorists to ensure they physically check their vehicle is locked before leaving it, and not to rely on remote door locking devices.

'It is not a regular occurrence in Medway for thieves to smash car windows, however we are seeing a rise in the opportunist thief taking advantage of unlocked vehicles.'

Anyone with information about thefts from motor vehicles in Medway can call Kent Police's appeal line on 01634 792209 or alternatively call Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
